We're thrilled to bring you the exciting news that the Blue Zones initiative is coming to Scottsdale!
The upcoming grand opening kick off event will be a promising glimpse into what the future holds for Scottsdale communities and residents.
Dr. Wilder sits on the Scottsdale Blue Zones Project board, playing a pivotal role in helping launch the project in Scottsdale. This transformative initiative is aimed at making our community a haven of well-being.
Mark your calendars for January 13th, as Scottsdale gears up for a community-wide well-being event that's completely FREE! Check here for registration opportunities.
The festivities start with a ribbon community ceremony followed by a variety of activities to cater to everyone's interests—yoga, line dancing, lawn games, scavenger hunt, drumming sessions with AZ Musicfest, DJs, food demos, and a tantalizing array of food vendors.
Get ready for an eventful day filled with joy, movement, and positive vibes.
What sets the Blue Zones Project apart is its approach to well-being. Rather than focusing solely on individual behavior change, it strives to create surroundings that naturally encourage healthier choices. Residents in the original Blue Zones areas live longer, healthier lives because their environments make healthy choices easy and unavoidable.
The project aims to optimize Scottsdale's built environment, municipal policies, restaurants, schools, grocery stores, faith-based organizations, workplaces, social networks, habitat, and inner selves.
By learning from the world's longest-lived cultures, Blue Zones Project translates these lessons into tangible changes that strengthen social ties, reshape places, and sharpen policies to support healthy choices.
Imagine a community where living longer, healthier, and happier lives isn't a challenge but a natural outcome of the environment. Blue Zones Project is all about creating such a reality. (If you haven’t already, we strongly recommend you binge on the Netflix Series Live to 100 to learn all about the Blue Zones)
By influencing the Life Radius®—the area close to home where people spend 90 percent of their lives—this initiative leverages people, places, and policy to transform surroundings.
The Blue Zones Project best practices have proven success in fostering communities with greater well-being, improved health outcomes, reduced costs, and increased civic pride.
These elements, in turn, support healthy economic development.
Whether you’re able to make it to the kick off, or plan to stay updated and participate in future events, we look forward to helping lead this initiative alongside Dr. Wilder and supporting our community in an exciting and necessary transformation..
