At LifeScape, we value and take pride in our patients safety and fulfillment of our aesthetics procedures. Despite the fact that injectable dermal fillers like Radiesse are generally safe contrasted with other fillers, we’re here to inform you as much as we can about Radiesse and the difference between it and the other fillers we offer.
What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is Calcium Hydroxylapatite, which means that there are little calcium balls in a gel matrix. The calcium irritates the tissue, stimulating the growth of collagen!
Most people love Radiesse because it is instant gratification, the gel matrix gives you instant volume and lift while the collagen is growing. The irritation continues for about a year with results showing within just the first 4-6 weeks when the collagen kicks in. It then takes about a year for the body to break it down. The result is a beautiful, natural lift with subtle volume.
Who should get Radiesse?
Radiesse is suitable for any age, but it really isn’t necessary until you reach your 40’s.
What is it most commonly used for?
Radiesse is most commonly used full-strength in the cheeks to lift the Nasal Labial folds and Jowls while replacing lost volume that has shifted down with gravity, or that has gone away with age.
It can also be diluted to stimulate collagen without volumizing the tissue, and can be used ideally anywhere on the body like in the neck / décolletage, arms, legs or belly.
What other fillers do we offer?
We offer a variety of Hyaluronic Acid fillers such as Voluma, Juvederm and Sculptra.
Voluma is injected in and takes up space giving you lift and volume and also gives you instant results, but it doesn’t quite give the ‘oomph’ that Radiesse has to lift heavier faces.
Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid and works similarly to Radiesse in stimulating collagen growth, but does not have instant gratification. Results with Sculptra are usually seen within 4 - 12 weeks after the first injection and followed up with a series of additional injections to get the proper results.
Are there any side effects of Radiesse?
Radiesse swells more than Voluma or other Hylaluronic Acid products once injected. The swelling typically lasts for about 12-18 hours. It is also not a Hylaluronic Acid filler so it cannot be broken down with Hyaluronidase.
Is Radiesse worth the investment?
Yes, absolutely! Radiesse is one of our favorite products, followed by Voluma (another really beautiful product). With that being said, all of these specific products’ effects last about 2 years. Pricing is typically per syringe for any of these products.
